8/3/2000 23:32 (Shane Rogers) - This weekend will see the V8Supercars take to the streets of Melbourne at the Albert Park circuit for the fourth time. None of the previous four events have been part of the national championship. The previous winners at Albert Park were Peter Brock (1996), Russell Ingall (1997 & 1998) and Craig Lowndes (1999). Albert Park is the 115th V8Supercar race meeting since the inception of the category in 1992.
The individual races have been dominated by Russell Ingall who won 7 consecutive races. The other race wins have been split between Mark Skaife (2), Craig Lowndes (2), Glenn Seton & Peter Brock. John Bowe has finished 10 of his 11 starts in the top 5 but remains winless.
Ford have only won one race at Albert Park, the very first race in 1996. Since then Holden have won twelve straight.
Russell Ingall currently holds the lap record at 1:58.7210 and was set in 1998.
Holdens outnumber Fords in the Albert Park entry 18-12.
Making their Albert Park V8Supercar debuts are Steven Johnson, Cameron McConville, Brad Jones, Craig Baird, Paul Morris, Steve Reed and Sam Newman. McConville, Jones and Morris have all raced the circuit before in other categories. Glenn Seton, Mark Skaife, Larry Perkins, John Bowe, Russell Ingall, Steven Richards, Tony Longhurst, Mark Larkham, John Faulkner, Steven Ellery, and Trevor Ashby have raced at all four previous Albert Park meetings.
The second heat should be Steve Reed's 100th V8Supercar race start.
The first heat will be Steven Richards' 50th V8Supercar race start.
The second heat should be Paul Radisich's 50th V8Supercar race start.
The third heat should be Cameron McConville's 25th V8Supercar race start.
John Bowe and Larry Perkins will become the second and third drivers to achieve starts in 100 V8Supercar race meetings, joining Glenn Seton.
This will also be Craig Lowndes' 50th V8Supercar meeting. A break down of

Sam Newman will become the 225th driver to start a V8Supercar race.
Race two should see Mark Larkham displace Peter Brock for 10th position in number V8Supercar race starts. The current top ten stands at Glenn Seton (235), Larry Perkins (228), John Bowe (226), Dick Johnson (222), Mark Skaife (210), Tony Longhurst (200), Alan Jones (182), Neil Crompton (165), Russell Ingall (160), Peter Brock (159). Larkham currently has 158 starts to his credit.
