MAIN EVENT: VIP Petfoods Main Event family day
5/9/2003 12:45 (Press Release) -
V8 Supercar stars will join with Triple M sporting celebrities in a fantastic pre-event promotion for the VIP Petfoods Main Event Family Day at Parramatta Park in Sydney on Saturday September 20.
Triple M's highly successful Dead Set Legends show, headed by Rugby League commentator Ray Warren and starring sporting celebrities such as Paul "Fatty" Vautin, Russell Barwick, Anthony Moron and Greg Matthews, will be conducting its first outside broadcast in almost three years.
The radio troop will join a host of V8 Supercar stars including Holden's Greg Murphy, Steve Richards and Cameron McConville as well as Ford's David Besnard and Steve Johnson.
The free family day is being planned as a public launch of the VIP Petfoods Main Event, which will be the 13th and final round of the V8 Supercar Championship Series at Eastern Creek Raceway on November 28-30.
The 'Main Event' is almost certain to be the season decider in one of the most hotly contested touring car championships in the world.
"I think the Parramatta Park promotion is a fantastic idea," said Besnard, who currently drives for Ford Performance Racing.
"There will be something for everyone whether you are a Ford or Holden fan.
"The VIP Petfoods Main Event is shaping as a spectacular event and I think the family day will be a great way to kick it off.
"I am sure there will be plenty of laughs with the Dead Set Legends crew on hand."
The day at Parramatta Park will include V8 Supercars and transporters, the Audi pace cars and a host of activities provided by the Life Be In It campaign including earth balls, arts and crafts, an animal farm and face painting.
There will also be a troop of performing dogs, all powered up on VIP Petfood, plus a free sausage sizzle and jumping castle to satisfy everyone's taste for excitement.
"I guess this is all about taking the event to the people in a lot of ways," said AVESCO Event's Shane Howard.
"The family day will offer something for everyone, as will the VIP Petfoods Main Event."
One lucky fan will also win a VIP Petfoods go-kart, which will be a part of a special coupon competition in The Daily Telegraph.
General admission tickets for round 13 of the series have gone on sale and can be purchased through Ticketmaster7 on 1300 136 122 or by logging on to ticketmaster7.com. People wanting to buy for groups of 20 or more can call (02) 8272 2755.
