PR: Autobarn backs Dumbrell

One of Australia’s most successful automotive retail franchise groups, Autobarn, is delighted to announce that the company has signed a personal sponsorship deal with V8 young gun Paul Dumbrell of the Castrol Racing Team.
Autobarn’s association with the 21-year-old V8 Supercar driver first began during Paul’s domination of the 2002 Konica season and adds to the growing number of Autobarn affiliated V8 drivers.
“It’s fantastic to have Paul on board again – he has been around Autobarn for a few years and his easy going personality has been welcomed at the store openings and various other Autobarn events he has attended so far” said Donna White, Autobarn’s National Promotions Manager
“It’s great to be associated with such a high profile and professional organisation and I look forward to expanding the successful relationship that I have with the guys at Autobarn,” Paul commented.
Paul Dumbrell made his touring car debut at the tender age of 16 behind the wheel of a Subaru WRX for the 3-hour GTP Bathurst event in 1998 and just one year later moved into Formula Holden before stepping up to a V8 Supercar for the FAI 1000 at Bathurst.
Paul’s progression into the Konica Series and his impressive fifth at Bathurst in 2002 allowed him to display his enormous driving talent and eventually landing him a fulltime drive with the Castrol Racing Team.
Autobarn’s Chief Executive Officer, Peter Fox commented, “After a shaky start to the season, Paul’s talent has come to the fore and his hard work and determination has started to bring him some very encouraging results and we are delighted to be associated with such a talented and up-and-coming driver."
The sponsorship deal also sees the highly distinctive and extremely recognisable Autobarn logo on the sleeves of Dumbrells’ racing overalls and on his racing helmet during the 2002/2003 V8 Supercar season.
