R1 CAMS Judicial Matters

2/3/2000 14:30 (Jason Whittaker) - Following the investigation of a number of incidents that occurred at Round 1 of the Shell Series at Phillip Island last month, CAMS this week handed-down it's findings, and relevant remedies.

The following penalties were imposed:

**The V8 Supercar Stewards found Jason Bargwanna, Car 35, guilty of overtaking Stephen Johnson, Car 17, under Red Flag conditions at Turn 10 during the Friday afternoon practice session. A fine of $500 was imposed.

**John Bowe, Car 600, was found guilty of overtaking four cars under Red Flag conditions during the Friday afternoon practice session. A fine of $1500 was imposed.

**Steven Richards, Car 7, was found guilty of overtaking one car under Red Flag conditions during Friday afternoons practice session. A fine of $500 was imposed.

**Michael Donaher, Car 50, was found guilty of overtaking John Trimbole, Car 47, under Red Flag conditions in the vacinity of Turn 4 during the Saturday morning practice session. A fine of $500 was imposed.

**Danny Osborne, Car 22, was found guilty of overtaking John Trimbole, Car 47 under yellow flag conditions during the qualifying session. A fine of $750 was imposed.

**The Category Technical Commissioners reported to the V8 Supercar Stewards that the engine of Car 75, Anthony Tratt (Toll Racing) had consistently exceeded the rev limit during Friday practice and Saturday's practice, qualifying and race. The Stewards found the entrant guilty of a breach of the V8 Supercar regulations and ordered that Car 75 be excluded from the results of Friday's practice and Saturdays practice, qualifying and race 1. Car 75 was subsequently placed at the rear of the grid for the start of
race 2.

**Michael Donaher, Car 50, was found responsible for the cause of an accident involving Mike Conway, Car 79, in the area of turn 9, during race 1. A fine of $5000 was imposed.

**Two Stop-Go penalties were issued to Neil Crompton, Car 6, during race 2. The first being for a breach of the start procedure and the second for a breach of the pit lane speed limit whilst completing the first penalty.

**Paul Morris, Car 29, was issued a Stop-Go penalty for his involvement in an incident involving himself, John Bowe, Car 600 and Russell Ingall, Car 8.

**Russell Ingall, Car 8 was found guilty of performing an unauthorised "Burn Out" at the completion of Race 2. A fine of $1000 was imposed.

Matters to be carried over:

**An inquiry will be conducted at the Qantas Australian Grand Prix into an incident involving contact between Russell Ingall, Car 8 and John Bowe, Car 600 during race 2.
