FORD: Melbourne to rev-up to Sandown with Ford V8 Superbreakfast

1/9/2003 15:44 (Press Release) - Ahead of the Betta Electrical Sandown 500, Melbourne race fans will get the chance to dine and chat with their favourite Ford V8 Supercar driver at the Ford V8 Superbreakfast to be held at the Melbourne Town Hall on Thursday 11 September from 7:30am.

Ford is enjoying its best year in V8 Supercar racing since 1997 when Glenn Seton won the title. So far in 2003 Ford has scored seven wins from the opening eight rounds. With another five rounds left in the season including Sandown, Ford is on target to scoring its best season in V8 Supercar history.

The return of the 500km endurance race at Sandown has generated plenty of interest. Due to overwhelming demand for driver appearances, Ford has decided to bring everyone together for a massive pre-race function.

All of Ford’s officially supported 32 drivers will be at the Melbourne Town Hall function, including the winner of five rounds so far in 2003 Marcos Ambrose of Pirtek Racing. Other Ford round winners in 2003, Craig Lowndes (CAT Ford Performance Racing) and Caltex Havoline Racing’s Russell Ingall will also be part of the event.

This will be the fourth function of its type held this year, with Ford V8 Superbreakfasts in Perth, Darwin and Sydney all recording sellouts.

The Melbourne Town Hall will be divided into 80 tables of ten people for the Ford V8 Superbreakfast. With a V8 Supercar driver guaranteed for each of the first 32 tables sold, race fans are advised to book early.

The Ford V8 Superbreakfast includes exclusive driver interviews, highlights of the 2003 season, a phantom race call, special gifts for everyone who attends, giveaways and the chance to win tickets to the Ford corporate hospitality over the race weekend.

The Ford V8 Superbreakfast is the best way to start your Betta Electrical Sandown 500 race weekend.

Tickets are priced at $80 and can be booked through Ticketmaster 7 at www.ticketmaster7.com or by calling 136 100.

All proceeds from the raffle will go to the Variety Club of Victoria.
