DJR: Luff fourth in Konica debut

31/8/2003 21:24 (Press Release) - Dick Johnson Racing's new recruit, Warren Luff, made an impressive race debut during the sixth round of the Konica V8 Supercar Series at Mallala Raceway today.

Stepping in for the final round of the season, the Sydneysider performed consistently across the day's three races to claim fourth overall in the
DJR Ford Falcon.

"Warren has done a great job today," team owner Dick Johnson said.

After a solid qualifying performance, Luff began the day from position six, and worked his way forward one place during the first 16-lap race.

The reverse-grid format saw Luff start the second race from 16th and carve his way through the field for a strong sixth-place finish.

For the third and final race of the day, Luff put in yet another competitive
showing, to bring his DJR Falcon home in fifth.

The DJR team opted to use the Konica V8 Supercar round to give Luff more race experience prior to this year's endurance races where he will partner Shell Helix Racing regular Steve Johnson.

"He's gotten some good race miles, and shown that he can mix it with the top Konica boys," Johnson said.

"This has been great preparation for the enduros... he'll be ready to step up to the next level at Sandown."

Luff will partner Steve Johnson in the Sandown 500 on 14 September and the Bathurst 1000 on 12 October.
