Should old acquaintance be forgot...

22/12/2002 17:29 (V8 Wire - Jason Whittaker) - Ford fans will celebrate the brand’s latest driver poaching as they toast the New Year, with Russell Ingall to officially announce his signing to Stone Brothers Racing on the stroke of midnight.

News of the deal will be posted on the team’s website – www.stonebrothersracing.com.au – at the dawn of 2003 (Eastern daylight savings time) and of a new era for Ford in V8 Supercar racing.

Photos of the team’s new livery will also be posted.

Ingall has waited until his current contract with the Holden-powered Castrol Perkins Racing team expires before confirming what has become common knowledge in the V8 Supercar community.

“There has been plenty of speculation, but the fans will finally get the chance to see our new driver and car on January 1, 2003,” team boss Ross Stone told The Sunday Mail.

Of his new signing, Stone said he would be a “great asset for our team as we head into the new season with a brand-new BA Ford race car and championship aspirations.”

David Besnard will make way for Ingall, expected to join Craig Lowndes in a new-look Ford super-team in Melbourne. Caltex will continue its association with Besnard, according to The Sunday Mail.
