Porter to defend IRC's Konica title

28/11/2002 16:54 (V8 Wire - Jason Whittaker) - Kiwi Mark Porter will contest the 2003 Konica V8 Supercar Series for the championship-winning Independent Race Cars team.

Porter drove a Paul Weel Racing-prepared Falcon to fourth in this year’s series as a rookie.

Team boss Marty Brant said he looked forward to working with the 26-year-old next year, "and beyond."

“Mark really took our attention with some good drives at both Phillip Island and Oran Park,” he said.

“We could clearly see that he was driving well within his limits and learning the tracks, that self-regulation impressed us.”

Porter will campaign the VX Commodore that took Paul Dumbrell to victory this year.
