Johnson bets all on lead enduro combo

29/8/2002 9:53 (V8 Wire - Jason Whittaker) - Dick Johnson won’t be hedging his bets come the endurance races. He can’t afford to.

Championship campaigners Paul Radisich and Steven Johnson will join forces for the Queensland 500 and Bathurst 1000, it was announced today, an all-out assault to salvage some pride from a miserable 2002 season.

The team’s enduro imports, Greg Ritter and former Formula One world champion Alan Jones, will share the other Shell Helix Falcon.

"We are obviously confident in putting Paul and Steve together again this year after they took out the Queensland 500 in 2001," Dick Johnson said.

"As for car No. 18, Alan brings a lot of experience to the team and Greg proved his worth in last year's endurance events as well as a couple of races for us already this season."

Steven Johnson sits 13th in the championship ahead of next month's Queensland 500, while Radisich is languishing in 22nd.
