Scott on business, so Doulman now a VIP

29/7/2002 13:21 (V8 Wire - Jason Whittaker) - Peter Doulman will drive for Cameron McLean’s VIP Petfoods team at the Queensland 500 and Bathurst.

Doulman replaces Queensland veteran Tony Scott, who withdrew due to “pressing business interests.”

44-year-old Doulman, a seasoned racer and 13-year Bathurst stalwart, was chosen after the team analysed timesheets from previous Bathurst races.

"We...could see Peter was a quick, consistent driver with a good record of finishes," team manager Ross Dillon said.

"That was confirmed with an impressive run at Queensland Raceway last Monday, when he met all our benchmarks. [He] has experience, speed and maturity, all qualities that are vital for our two biggest races of the year and a perfect complement to Cameron's natural speed."

Doulman said he was “extremely happy” to be paired with 34-year-old McLean, an almost-podium finisher at Bathurst and an “excellent, underrated driver.”
