VESRIX - Statistics for Phillip Island

10/2/2000 23:43 (Mark Jones) - Announcing a new service for those interested in the V8Supercar category of Touring Cars in Australia. VESRIX.

Vee Eight Supercar Results and Information eXplorer (VESRIX) is an
intergrated on-line database of the results of CAMS Group 3A races between
1992 and present day. You can lookup the profile of any V8Supercar driver
and more on the Internet at http://v8sp10.nectar.com.au/vesrix. VESRIX is a
part of the Internet V8Supercar Pick 10 (V8SP10) project.

Construction began in December 1999 and by mid-January a usable product was
available for V8Supercar fans to browse. Development of the site is
contining with several upgrades planned through out the year.

Statistics For Phillip Island round of the Shell Championship Series.
This weekends round will be the eighth V8Supercar event to be held at
Phillip Island. The other seven, all Shell series rounds, were won by Glenn
Seton (1993, 94 & 95), Larry Perkins (1996), Russell Ingall (1997), Craig
Lowndes (1998) and Mark Skaife (1999). Only twice has the Phillip Island
winner gone on to become the series champion.

The heats have been won by Glenn Seton (7), Craig Lowndes (3), Mark Skaife
(3), Russell Ingall (2), Larry Perkins (2), Peter Brock (1) and the dashes
by Dick Johnson, Alan Jones, John Bowe, Steven Richards, Steven Johnson,
Tomas Mezera & Cameron McLean.

Holden have won eleven races at Phillip Island compared to Fords seven.

Craig Lowndes currently holds the lap record at 1:33.4389 and was set in 1999.

Holdens outnumber Fords in the Phillip Island entry 21-16 with the largest
represented single model being the VT Commodore with 15 entries.

Making their Phillip Island V8Supercar debuts are Craig Baird, Todd Kelly,
Brad Jones, Paul Morris, Cameron McConville, Mike Conway & Rod Salmon, while
only Glenn Seton, Larry Perkins and John Bowe have raced in the 7 previous
V8Supercar events at Phillip Island

The second heat should be Tony Longhurst's 200th V8Supercar race start.
The first heat will be Jason Bargwanna's 75th V8Supercar race start.
The second heat should be Mick Donaher's 50th V8Supercar race start.
The second heat should be Anthony Tratt's 50th V8Supercar race start.
The second heat should be Paul Morris' 25th V8Supercar race start.
This is Trevor Ashby's 50th V8Supercar meeting.

The most experienced V8Supercar racer is Glenn Seton, who will have his
234th start in the first heat, while Rod Salmon is the least clocking up
only his second start.

The most succesful car number used at Phillip Island is #30, having taken
two round wins and a second, 5 heats wins, a second, three thirds and two
other top ten finishes, and a win and a second in dashes.
