Thank god for the Salvos, says charitable Rogers

29/4/2002 14:36 (V8 Wire - Jason Whittaker) - After spending an estimated $150,000 on the miraculous resurrection of Jason Bargwanna’s battered and bruised Commodore over the past fortnight, you couldn’t blame team owner Garry Rogers for keeping the proceeds raised by an auction of the unsalvageable car parts to himself.

Jason Bargwanna's signed car parts raised $5,500 for the Salvation Army

Instead, he's donated the money – more than $5,500 – to the Salvation Army.

“After we looked at all the parts from Jason's crash at Phillip Island we thought it would be a great way of raising a bit of money for the Salvos,” Rogers said.

The car's bonnet, signed by Bargwanna, proved the most sought-after item at the auction at Eastern Creek over the weekend, selling for $750.
