Let me entertain you, says Cochrane...to the tune of $37m

AVESCO Chairman Tony Cochrane is rolling in it. At least, that’s according to Business Review Weekly’s annual entertainers’ rich list, to be released tomorrow.
He may not sing, dance or act, but the V8 Supercar boss and entrepreneurial maverick has topped the list of Australia’s most affluent entertainers for the second year running, sharing the honour with his Sports and Entertainment Limited (SEL) co-directors James Erskine, David Coe and Basil Scaffidi.
The awesome foursome raked in $37 million last year, according to BRW, up from $29 million in 2000.
SEL are the country’s leading theatrical and entertainment promoters and a major stakeholder in the V8 Supercar governing body.
Cochrane is in good company: also making the top five were aging rockers AC/DC, movie makers Russell Crowe and Baz Luhrmann and crocodile man Steve Irwin.
