150-up for Seton in Adelaide

11/3/2002 18:39 (V8 Wire - Jason Whittaker) - Glenn Seton will become only the fourth driver to compete in 150 championship events at this weekend’s Clipsal 500 in Adelaide.

Tony Longhurst is the only current driver with more championship experience than Glenn Seton

Only Peter Brock (209), Dick Johnson (202) and Tony Longhurst (161) have more championship starts to their name.

Unlike the football codes, such milestones go largely unnoticed in motor racing circles. But it’s still a significant achievement for Ford’s most experienced and most successful crusader.

"There's no doubt 150 starts is a massive achievement and the Adelaide race will be a special event for me," the 36-year-old said.

The last 51 of those starts have seen Seton go win-less; his last round victory at Eastern Creek Raceway back in 1997. It’s a drought he’s desperate to end this weekend.

"Adelaide will not be about reflection, rather adding to my totals. In 2002 I'm out to add to all those records including wins and another championship, Adelaide is the best place to start,” he said.

"For the first time since Bathurst, I'll have at my disposal the same car I put on front row at Mount Panorama, which is without doubt the best V8 I've ever driven.”
