Brede launches slick Konica assault

4/2/2002 22:46 (V8 Wire - Jason Whittaker) - Young Canberra racer, Dale Brede will be back on the Konica V8 Supercar Series circuit this year, aboard a Craig Harris-prepared AU Falcon.

Konica racer Dale Brede says his Falcon will be a trend-setter in 2002

Brede, who drove a Commodore with NRC Racing in last year’s V8 Supercar feeder series, will race under the banner of Gulf Western, the national lubricant company who have thrown their support behind the 26-year-old. The unit will be officially called Gulf Western Racing.

Esanda and eauto.com.au join a growing band of associate sponsors.

Brede said his striking war paint theme would set the standard on the Konica Series circuit this season.

“We have worked closely with Gulf Western to come up with livery that will not only make the car stand out but also give us the opportunity to give the whole team a strong image,” said Brede, who finished sixth in last year’s championship.

Brede tested the car, engineered in Harris’ Brisbane workshop, at Queensland Raceway in December, with promising results.

Gulf Western Racing will be officially launched at a function in Canberra next month.
