Teams announced for HRT-free Supercar game

9/1/2002 12:57 (V8 Wire - Jason Whittaker) - V8 Supercars’ most popular franchise, the Holden Racing Team, will be conspicuously missing from the first official V8 Supercar computer simulator, to be released in June.

The AVESCO-sanctioned, Codemasters-produced release, V8 Supercar Race Driver, includes the sport’s top teams, eight from Ford and seven from Holden, but not the giant HRT outfit, due to their exclusive deal with rival software developer, EA Sports.

HRT will star in their own EA Sports game, V8 Challenge, to be released next month.

In HRT’s absence, Holden will be represented by the K-Mart Racing Team, Perkins Motorsport, Garry Rogers Motorsport, Big Kev Racing, John Faulkner Racing, Rod Nash Racing and the Lansvale Racing Team.

Ford’s finest from 2001 have all been included: Dick Johnson Racing, Stone Brothers Racing, Gibson Motorsport, Briggs Motorsport (with John Bowe), Larkham Motorsport, OzEmail Racing, Super Cheap Auto Racing and Ford Tickford Racing (with recent Ford convert, Steven Richards).

The plot-driven Race Driver series is said to be “the most immersive racing experience ever.”
