Craig Lowndes has been honoured by his home shire, Caboolture, to the north of Brisbane, with a sporting achievement award.
The Melbourne-born, adopted Queenslander, who lives with wife Natalie on a property to the north of Caboolture, was named the shire’s Senior Sportsman of the Year last week.
27-year-old Lowndes finished the 2001 V8 Supercar championship in eleventh place, in his debut year for Ford.
He’ll be presented with the award by shire Mayor, Councillor Joy Leishman, on Australia Day.
