Lap by lap race summary of the V8 Supercar 1000, held at Mount Panorama Bathurst earlier today:
10:00am - Cars leave on warm up lap. #021 Jason Richards/Angus Fogg to start from pit lane after all night repair by TAFE smash repair crew concluded after pit lane gates closed.
10:05am - Race Start - Cars held on the grid for a long time before red lights extinguish. Glenn Seton (#5) leads into Hell corner, as Marcos Ambrose (#4) and Craig Lowndes (#00) are slow off the line. Russell Ingall stalls #8, but refires without being collected, while Dugal McDougall in #16 breaks a tailshaft off the line.
Lap 1 order - 5 17 2 1 4 600 31 34 6 43. Brad Jones (#21) moves from 22nd on the grid, to 15th after lap 1. Ingall is 14th.
Lap 2 - Mark Skaife (#1) passes Jason Bright (#2) for third position.
Lap 3 - Skaife passes Paul Radisich (#17) at the Chase, moving into second. John Bowe (#600) passes Ambrose (#4) for fifth place.
Lap 4 - Bright passes Radisich on Mountain Straight for third.
Lap 5 - Skaife hits the lead at Griffins Bend, after gradually catching Seton. Seton then battles with Bright for second.
Lap 10 order - 1 2 600 15 5 11 17 31 34 43.
Lap 11 - #34 (Garth Tander) passes #31 (Steven Ellery) at Hell corner for eighth.
Lap 12 - Russell Ingall passes Glenn Seton at Griffins Bend for 5th. Skaife leads by 8 seconds from Bright, with 2nd to 13th separated by five seconds in a congo line. Mick Donaher (#50) spins at the cutting, dropping from 27th to 36th.
Lap 14 - John Bowe passes Bright to lead the congo line, and try to hunt down Skaife in front.
Lap 13 - James Brock blows a right front tyre coming into the Chase and drives straight into the gravel trap.
Lap 15 - Seton runs wide at Griffins, nearly hitting wall; drops from seventh to 14th.
Lap 17 - Skaife now leads by only 2.5 seconds from Bowe. Lap 19 - Car #9 (David Besnard) and #29 (Paul Morris) make contact at Forrests Elbow. Besnard is forced to the pits after handling problems result.
Lap 18 - After losing position to Bowe, Bright drops behind Greg Murphy (#15) and Ingall in the following laps to now be fifth.
Lap 19 - Greg Ritter (#18) pits, and hands over to Cameron McLean, in a planned stop. John Bowe takes the lead over Mark Skaife.
Lap 20 order - 600 1 15 11 2 17 31 43 00 34
Lap 23 - Murphy passes Skaife for second on Conrod straight.
Lap 24 - Ingall passes Skaife at Griffins Bend for thrid.
Lap 25 - Ellery passes Bright for fifth position.
Lap 28 - Lowndes gets inside Radisich at Murrays, in the process pushing Radisich almost into the wall.
Lap 29 - Lowndes and backmarker Mark Noske (#888) make contact after Lowndes attempts pass on outside at Forrests Elbow. Noske hits outside wall, while Lowndes continues with front spoiler damage.
Lap 30 order - 600 15 11 1 31 2 00 43 17 21
Lap 30 - Saftey car for rescue of car #888. All of top ten pit except for Ingall. Bowe overshoots pit when getting his pit boom mixed up with the similarly numbered boom of Alan Heath/Dale Brede (#500). Bowe is pushed back to his pit before service can take place, losing eight positions. Marcos Ambrose spins at Pit entry chicane, beaching the #4 Falcon in the gravel.
Lap 31 - Ingall pits, and so does the J.Richards/Canto #6 Falcon, which also did not pit on Lap 30. #15 (Todd Kelly) inherits the lead.
Lap 34 - Restart. Car #51 runs wide at Murrays approaching green flag. Half way through the lap Rod Salmon (#25) runs wide at the Reid Park gates, hitting the wall. Mick Donaher (#50) tries to get around on the ouside, but clips Salmon, which spins him into the middle of the circuit.
Most cars avoid the stricken car on the inside, with Paul Romano/Owen Kelly (#24) caught in a concertina accident, hit from behind by Larry Perkins (#11), and hitting Jim Richards (#6) in front. All three cars continied, the #24 car with significant damage to the front.
As Donaher tried to move his car out of a dangerous position, he moved it into the path of Peter Doulman (#46), who had committed to go around the outside, unlike most of the field who went inside. Doulman switched to the inside, but it was too late, as he hit the #50 car and then the inside tyre wall.
Meanwhile, car #20 (Holt/Mundy) had also spun off after going straight on over Skyline, hitting the wall.
Lap 36 - Intermittent hail and snow start to fall at various parts of the circuit.
Lap 39 - Restart. Simon Wills (#600) passes #31 (Geoff Brabham) at Griffins.

Lap 40 - #600 is shown the black flag for a pit lane speed violation, and proceeds to pit lane. Returns to circuit in 21st position.
Lap 42 - Longhurst (#1) passes Todd Kelly (#15) on Conrod straight. Salmon pits #25 after the bonnet flys up on Conrod Straight, caused by accident damage, smashing the windscreen. Wayne Wakefield (#4) retires with engine problem.
Lap 46 - Top seven cars together.

Lap 50 - #18 pits with McLean at the wheel, first car to make complusory pad change.
Lap 52 - #15 repasses #1 for the lead at Griffins bend. Car #2 pits, dropping Bright/Mezera to 17th position.
Lap 53 - #9 collides with Tim Leahey (#43) at Forrests elbow.
Lap 55 - Car #2 is black flagged for a pit lane speed violation, but does not lose any positions taking the penality.
Lap 57 - Steven Johnson (#17) passes Longhurst for second position at Murrays. #24 is black flagged to secure loose bodywork on the front of the car.
Lap 58 - #24 pits to rectify problem. Drops from 19th to 22nd.
Lap 60 order - 15 17 1 5 21 31 11 34 600 00
Lap 60 - Wills collides with Anthony Tratt (#75) at Murray's after attempting pass on two cars. #600 has a broken lower control arm after the accident, putting it out of contention. #75 was stuck in the outside gravel bunker.
Lap 61 - Safety car for recovery of car #75. All of top 10 pit except for #5, John Cleland in #21, and Perkins in #11. Nearly all stoppers implement their complusory brake pad change.
Lap 62 - Car #11 pits, and changes brake pads.
Lap 63 - Car #21 pits, after radio problems prevented the pit call getting through to the driver. Brake pads were not changed.
Lap 64 - Paul Radisich is on board car #17 as it blows an engine coming into Hell corner under the Safety Car. The car makes it to Reid Park, but no further.
Lap 68 - Restart. Seton/S.Richards (#5) pits at end of lap, maintaining pit strategy regardless of saftey car periods. #15 inherits the lead. Mark Larkham/Wayne Gardner (#10) are black flagged for a pit lane infringment.
Lap 70 order - 15 1 18 31 34 00 2 11 6 21
Lap 70 - Car #10 pits to take penality, drops from 11th to 12th.
Lap 73 - Heavy rain and Intermittent hail begins to fall again. #18, #31 and #34 pit immediately, but rain stops as quick as it started.
Lap 74 - Car #1 retakes the lead over #15.
Lap 75 - Brad Jones moves #21 into fifth with an inside pass of #2 at Forrests Elbow.
Lap 76 - Both Lowndes and Jones Fords are flying in the semi-wet conditions. Lowndes moves past #15 at Forrests Elbow, and past #1 at Chase to take race lead.
Lap 77 - #31 and #34 are forced back to the pits to change to slicks as track dries very quickly.
Lap 78 - Lowndes pulls lead at rate of three seconds per lap until the track dries out, Jones goes inside Perkins at the Chase for fourth position. #18 pits to revert to slicks. #31, #18 and #34 all lost at least seven places due to their tactical gamble on rain not paying off.

Lap 80 - Murphy/T.Kelly moves inside Skaife/Longhurst at the chase for second.
Lap 83 - Harris/Simpson (#88) spins at Cutting, narrowly avoided by #25 while the Castrol Falcon was recovering.
Lap 84 - Bright/Mezera passes J.Richards/Canto for sixth.
Lap 87 - Murphy/T.Kelly retake the lead as a heavy rain/hail shower sweeps the circuit again. Lowndes and Larkham clash at Forrests Elbow, with Lowndes ending up stuck in the tyre barrier. Cars #8, #25, #54, #600, #34, and #9 all have incidents while the Saftey Car is called for service again. Car #9 retires after a fuel leak becomes apparent at pitstop.

Lap 93 - Restart.
Lap 94 - Murphy misses gear on Pit Straight, allowing Skaife into the lead.
Lap 95 - Murphy retakes lead on Conrod Straight.
Lap 97 - Angus Fogg spins car #021 at Murrays after getting to 13th position.
Lap 98 - Safety car for recovery of #021. #15 and #11 pit.
Lap 99 - #21 (now leading), #1 and #18 all pit.
Lap 100 order - 6 31 2 34 1 15 18 5 11 21
Lap 100 - Cars #6 and #31 both pit. Bright/Mezera (#2) take lead.
Lap 102 - Restart.
Lap 107 - Seton/S.Richards inside Skaife/Longhurst at Forrests Elbow, taking fourth position.
Lap 108 - #5 then goes on to pass #34 for third. Wayne Gardner spins #10 at the cutting, bringing out the Saftey Car again.
Lap 109 - #2 pits from the lead. Murphy/T.Kelly take lead in car #15.

Lap 113 - Restart. Seton/S.Richards take lead from Murphy/T.Kelly at Griffins Bend.
Lap 116 - Cars #11 and #34 touch while battling for 5th at Griffins Bend. Tander prevails in #34.
Lap 119 - Safety Car out again to recover Harris/Simpson #88 car which has crashed at Sulman Park.
Lap 120 order - 5 15 18 1 11 34 2 21 31 6
Lap 124 - Restart. Car #34 pits, Bargwanna vacates seat for Tander.
Lap 125 - Rain starts to fall again.
Lap 126 - T.Kelly passes S.Richards for race lead on Conrod straight.
Lap 127 - Greg Ritter (#18) has small tankslapper at Hell Corner, allowing Larry Perkins (#11) into third. Ingall proceeds to then take S.Richards on the inside at the Cutting for second.
Ingall pressures T.Kelly for the lead down Conrod. The leaders brake for the chase to find the circuit saturated with hail. T.Kelly runs wide on to the grass at the Chase and spins, Perkins slows and manages to stay on, while S.Richards runs wide trying to avoid Perkins and slides through the Gravel, rejoining. Ritter also ran wide at the chase.
Behind them, Bowe and Mezera tangle at the chase and land in the gravel trap.
Lap 128 - Saftey car deployed. Perkins immediately attempts to pit, but finds the pit entrance unexpectedly wet, and spins into the tyre and earth barrier, causing significant damage to the front of the car. Ingall continues the race, but is unable to challenge for the win. Skaife takes over from Longhurst in car #1, which moved from 5th to second after managing to stay on the circuit.
Lap 129 - Cars #5, and #15 make their final pitstops one lap later - concerned about whether they will make it to the end on fuel.

Lap 134 - Restart. McLean (#18) passes Skaife (#1) on the outside on Mountain Straight. Brad Jones (#21) passes Dean Canto (#6) for third.
Lap 136 - Lowndes (#00) and Ellery (#31) make contact approaching Reid Park as Ellery tries to lap Lowndes. #00 suffers even more damage. Race control instructs Paul Morris (#29) to allow leads past. Morris (10th) is holding up the front of the field while trying to stay on the lead lap. Cameron McLean misses a gear coming onto the Pit Straight and loses the lead to Skaife.
Lap 137 - Brad Jones (#21) goes inside McLean at Forrests Elbow.
Lap 140 order - 1 21 18 6 15 31 34 11 5 3
Lap 143 - Mark Skaife (#1) leads by 1.3 seconds over Brad Jones (#21). Murphy (#15) takes Canto (#6) for fourth position.
Lap 145 - Skaife leads Jones by 1.5 seconds.
Lap 146 - Jones closes to within 0.8 seconds of lead as Skaife attempts to concerve amid fuel concerns.

Lap 151 - Murphy passes McLean at Griffins Bend for third. Mark Skaife warned by officals for Kerb Hobbing as he attempts to hold off Brad Jones.
Lap 154 - Skaife extends lead to 3.8 seconds
Lap 156 - Cars #5 and #23 collide at Forrests Elbow, but both continue.
Lap 161 - Mark Skaife/Tony Longhurst win the V8 Supercar 1000 by 2.3 seconds over Brad Jones/John Cleland. Greg Murphy/Todd Kelly finish 18 seconds behind the leader in third, followed by McLean/Ritter, J.Richards/Canto, Tander/Bargwanna, Ellery/Brabham, Perkins/Ingall and Seton/S.Richards all completing the full distance. Cameron McConville and Rick Bates (#3) finished 10th, one lap down. Only 21 of the 39 starters finished, while 24 cars were under the two-year old lap record.
