The Briggs Motorsport fleet of Falcons will grow to four in 2002, in a major expansion of the Brisbane-based operation.

Joining John Bowe and Simon Wills next year will be a two-car satellite team, to be sponsored by electrical goods retailer, Betta Electrical.
Drivers for the Betta Electrical outfit have not been named.
Bowe will continue to run the team’s Caterpillar-sponsored Falcon, while Wills joins the team full-time to campaign a sister car.
The five-year agreement with Betta Electrical was announced at Mt. Panorama this evening.
Betta Stores Ltd. Chief Executive Officer, Guy Houghton, said he looked to John Briggs and team because of their professional presentation and commitment to excellence.
“We have entered into this as a long-term arrangement to ensure both the team and ourselves achieve maximum benefit from our association,” Mr Houghton said.
“We want to be a highly successful team – the better the team performs, the greater our profile will be enhanced.
“We are extremely excited about the initiative and can’t wait for the 2002 V8 Supercar season to kick off.”
Betta Electrical was a major supporter of John Faulkner for a number of years before pulling the plug.
Briggs said the team’s impressive Brisbane workshop was ready and able to handle the intake.
“Our new base in Queensland has been established with a view to expanding this team into a multi-car operation,” he said.
“The sponsorship arrangement will signal the start of a significant growth period for this team and we are looking forward to the year ahead with great excitement.”
For Ford, the policy is clearly safety in numbers: together with Prancing Horse Racing, the Blue Oval will have no less than eleven teams working under their banner next season.
Ford President Geoff Polities said he endorsed the new venture: “From Ford’s perspective, we like nothing more than the prospect of seeing more competitive Falcons doing battle for the championship and I commend Betta Electrical and thank them for their commitment to one of our key teams.”
