Ambrose an honorary Stone brother until 2003

3/10/2001 18:03 (V8 Wire - Jason Whittaker) - Stone Brothers Racing has secured its long-term future with the signing of two new deals this week.

Marcos Ambrose has a new contract and new-look Falcon at Bathurst this weekend

Star driver Marcos Ambrose has elected to take up the remaining one-year option on his contract, tying him to the team until the end of 2003.

Ambrose, in his first year in V8 Supercars, signed an initial two-year deal with the Queensland-based outfit earlier this year. He also pledged allegiances to Ford until 2005.

And Pirtek will continue their association with Ambrose and SBR, signing a new three-year sponsorship agreement.

"In sport or business, you need to outline your future – this arrangement with Pirtek and Marcos clearly gives us great stability as we plan for the next three years,” SBR chief Ross Stone said.

"Pirtek and Marcos share our enthusiasm for the V8 program and I’m sure we are in for a very exciting period in the coming three years.”

In celebration of the renewed partnership, the No. 4 Pirtek Falcon has received a dynamic make-over, to debut at Bathurst this weekend.

Ambrose will share driving duties with Queenslander Wayne Wakefield in Sunday’s marathon.

Said Ambrose: "Before this year I was racing in Europe not really knowing where my future would come from.

"Ross and Jimmy offered me a great opportunity this year and it’s been the best time of my life.”
