Holden Super-ute on display at Bathurst

26/9/2001 18:05 (V8 Wire - Jason Whittaker) - Meet 'Thunder', perhaps the world’s most expensive and sophisticated Ute.

Streuth, a V8 Super-ute! Rogers’ men put together a racing version of the Holden Ute

'Thunder' is a striking 600-horespower, full V8 Supercar racing version of the Holden VU Utility.

Constructed by the Garry Rogers outfit in Melbourne, the car is not unlike any V8 Supercar – electronic fuel-injected V8 engine, six-speed Holinger racing gearbox, complete on-board data systems and chrome-moly roll-cage.

And why?

“'Thunder' was designed along the ideas of looking towards helping improve the entertainment factor in motor racing, while also show-casing Holden products,” Holden Motorsport Manager, John Stevenson, said.

The car will make an appearance at Bathurst’s V8 Supercar 1000 next week, and at automotive shows and other motorsport events nationally.
