Steven Johnson will share a Lamborghini Diablo SVR with his Dick Johnson Racing enduro teammate Paul Stokell at next week’s Sandown 500, it was confirmed today.
Johnson, winner of the recent Queensland 500 with Paul Radisich, joins Team Lamborghini Australia for the 24th running of the Sandown 500 at Melbourne's Sandown Park Raceway, this year featuring Nation’s Cup and GT-Production machines.
“It would be nice to add another 500 race to my record and Paul and I are going to have to work just as hard in the Lamborghini as Paul Radisich and I did in our Shell Helix Falcon to win in Queensland,” Johnson said.
“I’m looking forward to a good close race. Paul and I have worked together as teammates at Shell Helix Racing in the Queensland 500 and I think our times will be pretty close."
Johnson was due to test the car at Calder Park Raceway today, ahead of Sunday week’s 42-car marathon.
Other notable entrants from the V8 Supercar fraternity include Paul Morris (partnering John Teulan in a Ferrari 360), Jim Richards (co-driving with Tony Quinn in his Porsche GT3) and John Bowe, who’ll share his Prancing Horse Racing-prepared Ford Mustang with Kiwi Chris Dunn.
