Legal cloud hangs over Paragon

30/8/2001 22:27 (V8 Wire - Jason Whittaker) - An ominous legal cloud continues to hang over Paragon Motorsport, despite a temporary no-racing injunction being lifted.

In a brief media statement, the Queensland-based outfit announced an injunction that was placed on them at the Queensland 500 by long-time supporters, Greenfield Mowers, has been lifted, though court action continues.

Greenfield Mowers sought the Supreme Court injunction to prohibit the Cameron McLean/Neal Bates Falcon from starting Sunday’s 500km marathon.

It is alleged the company were irate with a one-off deal with VIP Petfoods, which was to see the Paragon Falcon carry VIP Petfoods signage in the race instead of that of naming-rights sponsor, Greenfield Mowers.

Paragon Manager Director, Jamey Blaikie, said it would be “inappropriate” to comment further while the matter proceeds in court.

“All Directors of Paragon Motorsport, including Cameron McLean, request that no further comment be sought by the media and well-meaning supporters,” he said.

"Telephone calls are an intrusion at the moment and we need to remain focused.”

Blaikie said further information would be revealed, “at the earliest appropriate opportunity.”
