26/8/2001 22:40 (V8 Wire - Jason Whittaker) -
Prompted by the success of this weekend, VIP Petfoods will continue its support of the Queensland 500 next year.
In the wake of the most successful race in its short-history, VIP Petfoods owner Tony Quinn said that, while a contract was not yet in place, he looked forward to continuing the relationship next season.
“Our involvement with this event has exceeded our expectations,” he said. “Everyone has worked extremely hard to produce a fantastic result for us and we appreciate the efforts of everyone at Queensland Raceway.”
And Queensland Raceway Chairman, John Tetley will be only too happy to have them back: “Everyone at VIP has been a pleasure to work with and we have enjoyed their friendship, honesty and professionalism and their own enthusiasm to make the event a success."
Organisers have announced attendance for this weekend’s event at 36,317, including more than 25,000 today.
“The fans voted with their feet and despite rain this morning, the crowd has exceeded our expectations,” Tetley said.
“Planning for next year’s race starts tomorrow.”
