Race sponsor banking on Paragon win

22/8/2001 18:55 (V8 Wire - Jason Whittaker) - Paragon Motorsport will carry the hopes of race sponsor VIP Petfoods at this weekend’s Queensland 500, after the company elevated their support for the team.

The Paragon Falcon, steered by Cameron McLean and enduro import Neal Bates, will carry the VIP Petfoods signage in place of regular backer Greenfield Mowers in a special one-off deal.

Though, Team Manager Jamey Blaikie affirmed Greenfield Mowers would continue supporting McLean in the rounds ahead: "They have been with Cameron a long time and will continue to be, the VIP Petfoods major sponsorship is a one-off deal.”

Of the team’s chances over 500km on Sunday, McLean was quietly confident. He says his co-driver for this weekend, though more accustomed to dirt than tarmac, won’t let anyone down.

“Neal and I have spent time together and we've really clicked,” he said. “His enduro stints with FTR really show he knows his stuff when it comes to driving on tar.”
