Shock: Big Kev floats!
10/8/2001 0:51 (V8 Wire - Jason Whittaker) -
In Melbourne’s stuffy finance district, Big Kev, with his booming voice, loud shirts and colourful entourage, was a fish out of water. Yet typically, his excitement was infectious.
The colourful V8 Supercar identity, sponsor and ambassador for fellow Queenslander Paul Morris, floated his cleaning products empire on the Australian Stock Exchange yesterday.
Kevin McQuay, as he is otherwise known, has offered ten million 50c shares in his grassroots, all-Aussie company, hoping to raise $5 million.
Speaking outside the Melbourne Stock Exchange, where he and the Big Kev Racing roadshow drew a large crowd of slightly bewildered media and fans, McQuay told AAP it was, “a giant step for Big Kev and a forward step for Australian owned and made.”
Big Kev Ltd. debuted on the market at 54c, before falling to 43c at the close of trade.
