It's a boy! Big Kev gives birth...to new car
24/7/2001 15:53 (V8 Wire - Jason Whittaker) -
Proud parents Paul Morris and Big Kev happily announced the arrival of their new baby boy today – Astro, the new Big Kev Racing VX Commodore.
1350kg Astro – “weighing a little bigger than Big Kev at birth” – will make his debut at Oran Park Raceway, round eight of the Shell Series, this weekend.
Morris says he has high hopes for Astro, who already “looks faster than his big brother.”
Enduro team-mate, Brit Matt Neal, looks set to join Morris on the grid, either baptising the new VX or aboard the ex-HRT mount.
"We will probably be running two cars – one for Matt Neal and one for myself,” Morris said.
“We will finish screwing together the new VX Commodore by Wednesday and take it out for a shakedown and we will decide who will drive what after that."
Returning to the scene of his horrific start-line smash last year, Morris is inspired by his round-winning efforts at Calder Park last week to put the demons behind him.
“It was just one of those things that happen and it could have happened anywhere so I won't be giving it much thought this weekend,” he said.
"We have got no idea how we will go this weekend, it is a real lottery for us. We don't have the data for the track and you can't test there so we have to just wait and see.”
