Harris has adopted the 27-year-old rookie, a revelation in this year’s Konica V8 Supercar Series, for the Mt. Panorama epic.
Harris said his partnership with Simpson is a “solid combination.”
“Michael did a great job when he had our car at Phillip Island and I think would have gone close to winning the weekend if not for some engine problems,” he said.
Said Simpson: “The Harris Racing organisation is a very professional and well-run unit and I think we will be going to Bathurst with a good chance of a top ten result.”
While Castrol has thrown its support behind the team’s Bathurst assault, the VIP Petfoods Queensland 500 is not yet on the agenda. Harris is hopeful of securing some support to race at his effective home Grand Prix.
“I think the event is going to be so big that we cannot afford to miss it,” he said. “We hope we can find a sponsor that thinks the same.”
