Dugal upgrades Pepsi Commodore
14/7/2001 10:26 (V8 Wire - Jason Whittaker) -
Dugal McDougall’s Pepsi Racing outfit has upgraded their Commodore to VX specifications for this weekend’s Calder Park encounter.
A long repair list from Canberra, and a five-week lay-off after missing the last round at Barbagallo Raceway, allowed the team to make the upgrade.
“We knew there was a lot of damage before we left Canberra, but after stripping it down in the workshop it became apparent that it was going to be a big job to get the Pepsi Commodore rebuilt,” McDougall explained.
“Many of the changes are fairly minor but there has been some significant modifications to the roll cage bars. With so much repaired or replaced, it’s a bit like grandfather’s axe but the team have worked incredibly hard and done a fantastic job.”
McDougall qualified for Calder yesterday – just – outing John Faulkner in the process.
