V8 fever sweeps NZ as tickets sell-out

29/6/2001 14:04 (V8 Wire - Jason Whittaker) - Organisers of the V8 Supercar Grand Prix of New Zealand have been “blown away” by the response from the Kiwi public, as tickets for the November event are snapped up in their thousands.

The trans-Tasman tussle promised by the NZ V8 International, to be held at Pukekohe Raceway near Auckland, has ensured a sell-out for the Shell Series’ first overseas round.

Despite initial doubts over the event, race promoters IMG have announced all grandstand tickets to the race have been sold and few corporate hospitality packages are left remaining after just a few weeks of selling.

“We have been blown away by the response from New Zealand motorsport fans," IMG’s Director of Motorsport, Geoff Jones, said.

"The interest has been so strong that we are investigating the possibility of building new grandstands to cater for demand."

Tickets can be purchased through the New Zealand branch of Ticketek.
