R6S PENALTIES - Skaife spat goes unpunished

28/6/2001 15:27 (V8 Wire - Jason Whittaker) - Mark Skaife’s televised tantrum in Canberra has gone unpunished by CAMS officials after an investigation into the matter at Barbagallo Raceway.

Officials reviewed footage of the incident, showing Skaife in a heated argument with Trevor Ashby after an on-track altercation at the GMC 400, after which time it was decided no further action would be required.

Skaife was also investigated for allegedly crossing the yellow line at the pitlane exit in Canberra. That matter was also dismissed.

Meanwhile, stewards investigated a number of incidents from Barbagallo, including a contentious clash between Cameron McConville and Steven Ellery during Saturday practice. McConville was found to have breeched careless driving rules, and was fined $2000.

John Bowe also ran into trouble on Saturday, receiving a $1000 fine for breaching red flag regulations, while Garth Tander was fined $300 for exceeding the 40kph pitlane speed limit.

An incident between Paul Morris and Jason Bargwanna in race two on Sunday was analysed, with Morris deemed the offender. The Big Kev racer was fined $1000.

Mark Larkham, who mysteriously flipped his Falcon on the warm-up lap preceding race three, and Larry Perkins and Brad Jones, who collided in the same race, will have to wait until the next round at Calder to have their respective matters heard.
