Larko's new sponsor on the nose
15/5/2001 21:09 (V8 Wire - Jason Whittaker) -
Mark Larkham’s DecoRug signage, seen on the nose of his Falcon for the first time at Hidden Valley, will remain with the team for another three years.
Larkham Motorsport announced the new deal with the Sydney-based retail chain, specialists in rug and timber flooring, before the Hidden Valley weekend.
DecoRug Managing Director Bill Gremos says there are obvious synergies between the two partners.
"The decision to get involved specifically with Larkham Motorsport was primarily based on the calibre of the people involved and on the similarities between our two organisations,” he said.
“It something that you can truly appreciate when you’ve built something as successful as Mark Larkham has built with Larkham Motorsport or similarly as the Gremos Family has built with DecoRug."
Larkham said he was “absolutely delighted” to have DecoRug on board until 2003.
“We look forward to a long association with DecoRug and are extremely excited to be a major element in the continued growth of the DecoRug retail operation,” he said.
The Gold Coast-based Larkham franchise, who signed ICS Smartcar as naming-rights sponsor earlier this year, has bolstered its personnel with the hope of entering a second Larkham Motorsport Falcon as early as the next round in Canberra.
"We have recently recruited two world-class professionals from AMG Mercedes in Germany and Prodrive in the United Kingdom to strengthen our race team, and build a formidable engineering and management base for the future,” Larkham explained.
“We will also have a new car coming on line soon, possibly as soon as Canberra so the future for Larkham Motorsport and DecoRug is definitely looking bright.”
