R3K PENALTIES - Kelly docked points

9/5/2001 13:14 (V8 Wire - Jason Whittaker) - Owen Kelly’s Winton victory was soured after he was docked 30 championship points for an altercation with Leanne Ferrier.

Stewards deemed the race two contact with Ferrier was negligent, revoking 30 points from the 24-year-old.

Meanwhile, David Parsons also felt the wrath of increasingly heavy-handed race officials following a coming-together with Dale Brede in the first race.

In the wake of Craig Lowndes and Marcos Ambrose’s post-race time penalty at Eastern Creek, Parsons had time added to his name after the race, relegating him back to 11th for the second heat (he originally finished fifth).

"Those are the rules and I copped it on the chin and just got on with it," Parsons said after the race.

On Saturday, Robert Smith was disqualified from qualifying after stewards found his engine exceeded the 7,500 rpm limit.
