Queensland Raceway under new management

18/4/2001 15:28 (V8 Wire - Jason Whittaker) - The beleaguered Queensland Raceway complex outside Ipswich is to have a new General Manager in Rob Colgan.

The 38-year-old Sydneysider has a wealth of circuit administration experience, having managed both Oran Park Raceway, and more recently, the Wakefield Park complex.

"We have some exciting things planned for this year and have an overall goal of really utilising every aspect of the venue,” Colgan said.

Part of Colgan’s plans include taking the circuit’s 500km V8 Supercar race to, “a new level.”

"The traffic problem at the first V8 Supercar event is something that has stuck and I think that has probably hurt the last couple of major events here," he said.

"Millions of dollars have been spent to ensure those problems are long gone and we need to let people know so they will return to enjoy what is becoming the best permanent facility for fans in the country."
