Entertainer Cochrane is Australian high-roller

AVESCO Chairman and media magnet Tony Cochrane is rolling in it. At least, that's according to the annual Business Review Weekly Top 50 Australian Entertainers List, released today.
He may not sing, dance or act, but the V8 Supercar boss - together with his Sports and Entertainment Limited (SEL) co-directors James Erskine, David Coe and Basil Scaffidi - has beaten the likes of Russell Crowe, Savage Garden and The Wiggles to be named Australia's most affluent entertainer.
SEL, a group which incorporates AVESCO, had its gross wealth for 2000 estimated at a sizeable $29 million.
The success of the company's theatre interests, particularly production of the hit Sound Of Music revival, contributed to the massive windfall.
Crowe and aging rockers AC/DC were equal second on the list, supposedly worth $25 million each.
Despite rumors to the contrary, new Ford gun Craig Lowndes did not make the list.
