Radisich: New Falcon is best ever
3/4/2001 11:03 (V8 Wire - Jason Whittaker) -
Paul Radisich described his last Shell Helix Falcon as the best ever. Now he says his 2001-spec machine, to debut this week in Adelaide, is even better.
"The new car is just that little bit more refined in the build, just that little bit nicer in detail," Radisich said.
A pre-Clipsal 500 shakedown at Queensland Raceway last Friday proved the car Radisich will chase his first Shell Series title aboard was as quick, if not quicker, than his 2000 mount.
"My last car was the best ever and this one feels even better, so I'm really looking forward to Adelaide and getting the sort of results we expected and should have got from the first round at Phillip Island."
Team-mate Steven Johnson has been blessed with the hand-me-down Falcon - the form car of the latter half of last year and early this year.
"What's now become my car has only done 12 races, and it's finished on the podium nine times, so I can't wait to get my hands on it," Johnson said.
"It's obviously a very good car, an absolute front runner," he said.
Set-up wise, the almost-identical DJR fleet will make the development process faster and easier.
"For the team it's going to be a real bonus having two virtually identical cars," Johnson explained, "because the data and set-up information can be shared between us, and will transfer from car to car."
