3/4/2001 10:35 (V8 Wire - Jason Whittaker) - The Mustang is back! CAT Racer John Bowe will lead the Mustang's Australian motorsport revival aboard a factory-backed machine in this year's GT Performance Championship.

The 'stang is back! Bowe will pilot the Prancing Horse prepared car starting at Wakefield Park

A Supercar stalwart and production car regular, Bowe will pilot the Prancing Horse Racing-prepared Mustang beginning at the second round of the championship at Wakefield Park Raceway next month.

The Budweiser-sponsored red and white Cobra RA, unveiled on the steps of Melbourne's Old Treasury Building yesterday, has the full support of Ford's racing division.

"PHR has proven itself an extremely professional team over the last 12 months, and we're very excited to begin an association which I'm sure will prove to be successful for all concerned," Ford Racing General Manager Howard Marsden said.

44-year-old Bowe makes his return to the production car circuit after a year's absence. The eight-round series adds an extra five racing weekends to his schedule.

Said Marsden of Bowe: "His experience will add great depth to what is already a highly experienced and successful operation."
