Shock! Longhurst in Commodore-powered revival

28/2/2001 21:03 (V8 Wire - Jason Whittaker) - Tony Longhurst is back. The Stone Brothers reject will race a Commodore for Rod Nash Racing in this year’s Shell Series.

While details are still sketchy, news that the veteran Longhurst will replace Cameron McConville at Rod Nash Racing for this year’s series will become public tomorrow.

It is believed Longhurst could be seen behind the wheel of the Nash Commodore as early as this weekend, replacing McConville who has been entered in the car. McConville has moved to the Landsvale Racing Team for 2001.

Longhurst was dumped from the Stone Brothers Racing squad last year in favour of former United States Formula Ford champ, David Besnard.

The 43-year-old has raced Falcons since the inception of the V8 formula in the early ‘90s.
