Ellery's predictions as bold as his warpaint

14/2/2001 18:14 (V8 Wire - Jason Whittaker) - Steven Ellery’s gleaming new Shell Series weapon is certainly bright, but not as bold as his predictions for the coming season.

Ellery warns his new-look Falcon will be on the prowl come March

The new-look Super Cheap Auto Falcon has just been rolled out of the paint booth, with Ellery insisting it will be much more prominent in 2001.

"We plan to add a few more wins to the scorecard," 26-year-old Ellery confidently declared.

"After our performances late last year, I know we can do it. We had a few gremlins in the system early last season and we worked hard to get on top of it. It came together at Sandown and showed what's possible for a private team.”

"I'm not saying we're going out to win the championship, but unless the other teams have made huge leaps and bounds during the off-season, I know we'll be in a good position to make an impact straight up,” he said.

The Falcon’s livery has been sharpened for the new season to reflect Super Cheap Auto’s increased commitment to the tight-knit Gold Coast operation. Konica are also conspicuous supporters.

The new-look Falcon will first hit the track competitively at the Australian Grand Prix next month.
