Dumbrell to join Gibson for Konica gig

Paul Dumbrell will compete in this year’s Konica V8 Supercar Series under the guise of Fred Gibson.
V8 Wire understands that Dumbrell is the latest to join the Ford-transformed Gibson Motorsport squad; signed to campaign the Konica Series for the Melbourne-based operation.
It is believed the 18-year-old will race the ex-Richards VT Commodore in the opening round at Wakefield Park next month. His car model may change beyond that point, given Gibson’s commitment to running Falcons.
Former Rodney Forbes backer, Wynn’s is believed to be supporting Dumbrell’s campaign.
Dumbrell could not officially comment on the deal this afternoon. An announcement is expected on Thursday.
