News:

Greg Crick to sign with Stone Brothers

4/2/2001 1:21 (V8 Wire - Jason Whittaker) - Tasmanian super-sub Greg Crick is likely to be included in the Stone Brothers’ endurance squad later this year.

It’s been widely reported that Crick will join fellow Tasmanian-born Marcos Ambrose in the Pirtek Falcon at the Queensland 500 and Bathurst classic.

Craig Baird and Simon Wills piloted the car in both events last year, but are unlikely to be invited back. The under-rated Crick was ultra-impressive in the longer races last year, showing plenty of pace alongside Paul Weel.

When contacted by us late yesterday, Ross Stone was unable to comment on the news but told us all would be revealed in the lead-up to the Australian Grand Prix next month.

Meanwhile, SBR reject Tony Longhurst could mount a legal challenge against the decision to suspend him from the team’s 2001 Shell Series squad. Stone yesterday refused to comment on the Longhurst situation.
