Armchair fans watch Bathurst in their millions
8/12/2000 22:40 (V8 Wire - Jason Whittaker) - More Australians watched this year's FAI 1000 than any other televised Motorsport event in history, according to new figures released today.
V8 governing body AVESCO was glowing after figures showed more than one and a half million Australians turned-on the Ten Network’s marathon Bathurst coverage – winning every timeslot in every market during the seven-hour race.
Almost 94 percent of all Televisions were tuned to the race in Brisbane, 83 percent in Melbourne and Sydney.
The race was also beamed across the world to more than 35 countries.
