VESRIX Preview - FAI 1000 at Bathurst

16/11/2000 8:34 (Mark Jones) - Statistics for Round 13 of the 2000 Shell Championship Series, the FAI 1000, Mount Panorama, Bathurst, New South Wales.

This is the eleventh time Mount Panorama has played host to a V8Supercar meeting. The previous ten events consisted of 8 Bathurst 1000's and 2 Shell Series sprint rounds. The sprint rounds were both won by John Bowe (1995 and 1996). The Bathurst 1000's were won by Larry Perkins/Gregg Hansford (1993), Dick Johnson/John Bowe (1994), Larry Perkins/Russell Ingall (1995), Craig Lowndes/Greg Murphy (1996), Larry Perkins/Russell Ingall (1997), Jason Bright/Steven Richards (1998) and Steven Richards/Greg Murphy (1999). The best finishing V8Supercar in 1992 was Win Percy and Allan Grice in 5th place.

The individual races have been won by John Bowe (4), Larry Perkins (3), Dick Johnson (2), Russell Ingall (2), Greg Murphy (2), Steven Richards (2), Gregg Hansford, Craig Lowndes, Mark Skaife and Jason Bright.

The two dash races were won by Larry Perkins (1995) and Truckie Parsons (1996).

Holden have won 6 V8Supercar races at Mount Panorama compared to Ford's 6.

Larry Perkins currently holds the lap record at 2:12.3398, which was set in 1997.

Holdens outnumber Fords in the entry 33-23.

As with any endurance event, there are a number of co-drivers making debut appearances. Making their V8Supercar debuts are Yvan Muller, Jason Plato, Matt Neal, Ian Moncrieff, Rob Russell, Steve Coulter, Owen Kelly, Aaron McGill, Tim Sipp, Jason Richards and Angus Fogg. In addition there are drivers are making their V8Supercar debut at Mount Panorama. Making their Mount Panorama V8Supercar debuts are Christian Murchison, Luke Youlden, David Besnard, Rick Bates, Phillip Scifleet, Terry Wyhoon, James Brock, Matt Neal, Luke Sieders, Tyler Mecklem, Chris Butler, Gary Baxter, Ross Halliday and Adam Wallis.

The most experienced driver present in the entry list is Glenn Seton with 265 race starts. The least experienced are the rookies listed above.
