Bathurst-bound punters to put their money where their mouth is
10/11/2000 13:54 (V8 Wire - Jason Whittaker) - The Holden of Mark Skaife and Craig Lowndes and the Falcon of Paul Radisich and Jason Bright are equal favourites for next week’s big race according to SportsTAB – who are giving track-side fans the chance to put their money where their mouth is for the first time.
Bathurst punters won’t have to leave the confines of the complex this year with organisers introducing on-site betting, to be handled by SportsTAB – the ‘Official Sports Betting Agency of the FAI 1000.’
The mobile facility, located in the Harris Park precinct, will take bets for the FAI 1000, and other sporting contents across the country.
“Holden and Ford fans are very parochial, and will always go that extra mile to show where their allegiances lie,” SportsTAB’s Glenn Munsie said. “Being able to place a bet on-course and support their favourite teams will provide a further opportunity to do this.”
Opening Thursday morning, the agency will provide plenty of options to profit from the 1000km marathon, including Race Winner, Top Three, Exacta, Ford verses Holden result, Halfway Leader and Fastest Qualifier. Wagers can also be made during the race on selected markets.
SportsTAB have the lead HRT and DJR cars priced at $5. The height-mismatched Valvoline-Cummins pair are second favourites at $7, while FTR racers Glenn Seton and Neil Crompton sit on the third line of betting at $7.50. Last year’s winners, Kiwis Greg Murphy and Steven Richards, are quoted at $9.
