Seton and Crompton to pilot "best car ever"

30/10/2000 15:17 (V8 Wire - Jason Whittaker) - Ford-Tickford Racing have dispelled rumours of a late change to their Bathurst pairings, today confirming their driver line-ups for next month’s FAI 1000.

A misprint in the official Bathurst entry list had Glenn Seton and Neil Crompton driving in separate cars, but the team today confirmed their two Shell Series campaigners would pilot the No. 5 Falcon together.

500cc Motorcycle Champion Wayne Gardner returns to Australia to run the second FTR Falcon with Rally ace Neal Bates.

“Glenn, Neil, Wayne and Neal together with the entire team at Ford Tickford Racing are working hard to bring home a win for Ford at the FAI 1000 Bathurst in just under three weeks time,” the statement released today said.

Seton and Crompton will debut a brand-new AU XR8 Falcon at Bathurst. It’s a car the team claim is the “best ever” to roll out of FTR’s Melbourne headquarters.

The new Falcon is the most rigid of any of the car’s built by the Glenn Seton-led operation, containing a newly-developed roll cage structure in the cabin.

Seton, in his first race back from a horrific Phillip Island testing shunt, and departing FTR driver Neil Crompton are gunning for their first-ever Bathurst crown.
