Morris – who has won each of the seven Super Touring races held this season – will abstain from vital practice sessions at Wakefield Park this Friday to continue preparations for his Big Kev-backed Bathurst campaign with Brit Matt Neal.
The three-times two-litre champ will devote the time to testing his Commodore at Queensland Raceway this week, and to allow Neal valuable time behind the wheel of the unfamiliar Aussie Supercar.
Morris and his NEMO Racing squad began testing at the 3.1km outer-Ipswich circuit yesterday.
"I've never raced at Wakefield Park before so the other guys are going to have a head start on me with working on their car set-ups," Morris, who leads the Super Touring Series by 70 points, explained.
"Matt has come out from Britain for the test and I want to give him as much time in the car as I can this week so he can get ready for Bathurst because he doesn't usually race V8s," Morris told AAP yesterday.
33-year-old Neal will make his Supercar debut at the Bathurst 1000km marathon.
