Wakefield and McLeod on a roll for Bathurst

24/10/2000 21:15 (V8 Wire - Jason Whittaker) - Motorsport, Chiko Rolls, Kangaroos and Holden cars. It’ll be the catchphrase that will reverberate around the Mountain next month after Bathurst-bound Wayne Wakefield and Ryan McLeod announced they’ll rekindle their partnership with Chiko Rolls as part of their 2000 Bathurst assault.

Fierce rivals on this year’s Lites circuit, Queenslander Wayne Wakefield and Victorian Ryan McLeod will again join forces (they did so at the Queensland 500) for this year’s Bathurst event – and they’ll do it with the help of an Aussie icon.

"It all came together very nicely, Chiko Roll, Bathurst and Holden – what could be more Australian!" McLeod said.

Chiko, who regard Bathurst as the brand’s hometown, say the partnership is a convergence of Australian tradition and culture.

"Australians love Motor Racing, Holdens, Bathurst and Chiko Rolls, and when the opportunity arose to communicate with hundreds of thousands of Australians in such a very comfortable environment, we jumped at it," Rachael Davis, Senior Brand Manager for Chiko, said.

The promotion will include the head-turning Chiko Roll girls, the “Chickettes” – sure to please the hoons at the top of the Mountain.

27-year-old McLeod and 30-year-old Wakefield will campaign the John Faulkner Racing-bred VS Commodore – the car McLeod piloted to a fourth-place finish in the inaugural Konica V8 Lites Championship this year.

Wakefield’s Graphic Skills machine will be raced by Saloon Car drivers Shane Beikoff and Tim Sipp.
