Seton's title hopes dashed; won't run at Sandown

2/10/2000 11:27 (V8 Wire - Jason Whittaker) - Glenn Seton’s title aspirations are in ruins after it was revealed today he will be forced to sit out the upcoming Sandown sprint event this weekend.

Seton’s slim hopes of claiming a third Championship crown this year – he trails Championship leader Mark Skaife by 247 points – have been dashed after failing to recover from a frightening 200km/hr crash in testing at Phillip Island last week.

The Ford-Tickford campaigner sustained bruising and cracked ribs in the impact and, although he hoped to be fit for Sandown, will be forced to watch his title hopes slip away from pitlane this Sunday.

35-year-old Seton won’t line-up on the Gold Coast Indy support grid next month either.

Neil Crompton will campaign Ford Tickford Racing’s sole Falcon at both events.

Seton will now not race before the FAI 1000 in early November, where he will partner Neil Crompton in a bid for an elusive Bathurst crown.
