Dale Brede Joins Team BOC

13/4/2005 22:10 (Press Release) - Team BOC’s Brad Jones has today announced that former Team Dynamik and Development Series runner-up Dale Brede will join his Albury-based V8 Supercar team for the Sandown 500 and Bathurst 1000 endurance races as well as some hand-picked Development Series events in 2005.

Brede, who stems from nearby Canberra, will drive the second Team BOC Falcon alongside a yet to be determined driver in both enduros, and according to Jones he represents a perfect fit for the team that has an outstanding record at the Sandown and Bathurst circuits.

“Dale [Brede] is an experienced driver these days who has had some very good results in the enduros. He now also has a full season of [driving in the] main series V8 Supercars under his belt, which is more than a lot of the other endurance driver line-ups can boast,” said Brad Jones.

“Sandown and particularly Bathurst are the most important events on the calendar for us. We have a great record and when we come to making a decision on our driver line-ups we take it very seriously. We’re excited about securing the services of Dale and the prospects his abilities give us.”

To ensure Brede is in the best of race conditioning, Team BOC will run their 2004 championship winning AU Falcon at the Wakefield Park and Mallala rounds of this year’s Development Series, giving the 2002 runner-up valuable time in the drivers seat.

“Our philosophy is to have two very competitive race cars when it comes to the enduros, so it’s just as important for the Team BOC Falcons as for the drivers to be in the best shape. We felt having Dale spend some time in one of our cars before these races was vital to our strategy,” Jones concluded.

It was a jubilant Dale Brede that today tried on his new red, white and blue colours for the first time. His signing with Team BOC marks a major turning point in his career.

“I’ve had a strong relationship with the Jones’ and JB (John Bowe) for a few years now and to step into their organisation for the two most important events of the year is just sensational,” said Dale Brede.

“If I had a choice of any team in V8 Supercars to race with it would be Team BOC. To have my driving nurtured by Brad, Kim [Jones] and JB is exactly what I need at this stage of my career. I now have a chance to go to Sandown and Bathurst with a good team and a good car.”

“These guys [at Team BOC] eat, sleep and drink motorsport. Every dollar they have goes into making their cars go faster. There’s no distractions, just a desire to do the best they possibly can,” Brede added.

Commenting on his two race appearance in the 2005 V8 Supercar Development Series, Brede said further – “Both Team BOC and I jointly believed that to be competitive come the enduros, it is essential that I have some seat time beforehand.”

“Wakefield Park and Mallala are prefect for me because they are tracks that I am very familiar and confident with. I won my first Development Series round at Wakefield [Park] in 2002 and tested at Mallala all last year with Team Dynamik.”
