Motorsport News back KartStars
13/4/2005 22:08 (Press Release) -
Australia's premier motorsport magazine Australasian Motorsport News is the new namingrights partner for the rejuvenated KartStars series. The series will now be known as the Motorsport News KartStars Series.
This news further assures the profile, value and future of the prestigious karting series, which has proved a fantastic series for nurturing and discovering young driver talent. Indeed, 2001 KartStars champion Mark Winterbottom now drives for Orrcon Racing in the V8 Supercar Championship Series.
This new naming rights deal, coupled with the continued support of international energy drinks giant Red Bull, ensures the continued future of Motorsport News KartStars, after the series had a sabbatical year in 2004 following the withdrawal of Ford Australia.
The prize for both Motorsport News KartStars and the new Rotax-powered Junior Max category has been confirmed by series organisers Drew Price Engineering. The champion of each class will be given a two day test with one of Australia’s premier Formula Ford teams, Borland Racing, in preparation for a Formula BMW test at the Estoril circuit in Portugal.
At the Estoril test, 20 drivers from around the world will be present, with two drivers chosen to drive free-of-charge for Red Bull’s own Formula BMW team the following year in the 2006 German ADAC Formula BMW Championship.
To ensure that the greatest parity possible is achieved and it is driving talent that is the decisive factor in determining the series champion, Motorsport News KartStars is continuing with its original ideal of control Arrow chassis, Rotax FR125cc engine and Bridgestone tyres for all competitors in 2005.
Midseason, all entrants will be upgraded to the new model Arrow Rotax chassis free-of charge. Round 1 of the Motorsport News KartStars Series and Junior Max will be held at Geelong’s Beckley Park on April 8-10.
